Jerusalem: The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) on Monday announced that it had launched a targeted strike, destroying key military infrastructure belonging to the Houthi regime at the strategic port of Hodeidah in Yemen.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the IDF said it had targeted engineering equipment, fuel tanks, and vessels used for military operations and to project force against Israel and maritime vessels operating near the port. Additional facilities classified as “terror infrastructure” were also destroyed.
According to the IDF, the Hodeidah port has long been used by the Houthi regime for military and terrorist purposes, including launching attacks on Israel and its allies, and for smuggling weapons from Iran.
The Israeli military said it had identified several attempts by the Houthis to rebuild their military infrastructure at the port, prompting the latest round of strikes.
“The IDF identified ongoing activity and attempts to restore terror infrastructure at the port by the Houthi terror regime. As a result, we struck components involved in advancing these operations,” the statement read.
The IDF also accused the Houthi forces of exploiting the maritime region to conduct terror attacks and disrupt global commercial shipping, using civilian infrastructure for military ends.
“The targets attacked in and around the port closely resemble the Houthi regime’s pattern of using civilian sites for military purposes and terror activities,” it said.
Reaffirming its stance, the IDF declared it would continue to respond forcefully to any threat against Israel.
“The IDF will act with determination against repeated attacks by the Houthi terror regime and will continue to strike any threat to the State of Israel, wherever necessary,” the statement concluded.
