
Ranchi: The inaugural edition of the Jharkhand T20 League is all set to begin on June 10 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, with Virat Singh-led Chota Nagpur Royals taking on Rajandeep Singh’s Ranchi Titans in the tournament opener.
The opening match will be followed by a grand opening ceremony, which will be graced by Jharkhand’s cricket icon and former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of the most respected figures in international cricket.
The second match of the opening day will see Koylanchal Super Kings clash with Jamshedpur Steelers, led by Utkarsh Singh and Kumar Deobrat respectively.
The Jharkhand State Cricket Association has announced the complete schedule for the tournament, which will feature 27 matches, including two semi-finals and the final, all to be played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex.
Six franchises will compete for the coveted title in the league’s maiden season:
JSCA President Ajay Nath Shah Deo described the league as a landmark moment for cricket in the state.
“This league marks a significant milestone in Jharkhand cricket. We are excited to see the best talent from across the state competing at a professional level and inspiring the next generation of cricketers,” he said.
JSCA Vice President Sanjay Pandey expressed confidence that the inaugural edition would establish a strong foundation for future seasons, citing the overwhelming response from players, franchises, and supporters.
Honorary Secretary Saurabh Tiwary highlighted the opportunities the tournament will create for emerging players to showcase their abilities alongside experienced campaigners.
Joint Secretary Shahbaz Nadeem said the league promises two weeks of exciting and highly competitive cricket while helping nurture young talent.
The primary objective of the Jharkhand T20 League is to provide a professional platform for cricketers to display their skills and progress to higher levels of the game. Several prominent Jharkhand cricketers, including Ishan Kishan, Robin Minz, Kumar Kushagra, Anukul Roy, Sushant Mishra, Utkarsh Singh, and Virat Singh are expected to feature in the tournament.
The league is expected to play a key role in strengthening Jharkhand’s cricket ecosystem and providing a pathway for local talent to reach national and international levels.
