Jharkhand leaders pay tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar, call for embracing his ideals

Ranchi — On the 135th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar, heartfelt tributes poured in from across Jharkhand, with the main ceremony held in Ranchi.

Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid floral tributes at Ambedkar Chowk in Doranda, remembering Babasaheb’s immense contribution to the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor described Dr Ambedkar as not just the architect of the Constitution but also a visionary social reformer who laid the foundation of a democratic India rooted in equality and fraternity. He highlighted how Babasaheb overcame hardships to achieve academic excellence and dedicated his life to fighting discrimination, calling his journey a powerful example of determination and self-belief. He also stressed the importance of education as a tool for social transformation and urged citizens to work towards a more inclusive society.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren echoed similar sentiments, stating that modern India stands on the strong foundation built by Dr Ambedkar. He said the nation takes immense pride in Babasaheb’s legacy and assured that his ideals and contributions will continue to guide future generations.

Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji and MLA Kalpana Soren were also present and paid their respects, along with several senior officials from the district administration.

Across Jharkhand, the day was marked with seminars, cultural programmes, and public gatherings, where people came together to honour Dr Ambedkar and reaffirm their commitment to his vision of equality, justice, and social harmony.
