Washington: The United States on Friday accused Russia of providing sensitive information about the locations of American fighter jets and key military installations, raising fresh concerns over global security and intelligence warfare.
According to US officials, Moscow has allegedly been gathering and sharing intelligence related to the deployment and movement of US military assets, including fighter aircraft and other strategic facilities. The alleged activity is believed to involve the monitoring of American military operations and the possible transfer of that information to third parties.
Officials in Washington, D.C. said such actions, if confirmed, would represent a serious escalation in tensions between the two countries. They warned that sharing classified or sensitive military information could undermine the security of US forces and their allies.
The accusations come at a time when relations between Washington and Moscow are already strained over several geopolitical issues, including the ongoing war in Ukraine and broader security concerns in Europe.
While the US administration has not disclosed specific evidence publicly, it said intelligence agencies are closely monitoring the situation. American defense officials also indicated that measures are being taken to strengthen the protection of military data and operational secrecy.
The U.S. Department of Defense said it is reviewing the reports and coordinating with allied countries to assess the potential impact of the alleged information sharing.
Russia has not yet officially responded to the accusations. However, analysts say the allegations could further deepen mistrust between the two global powers and complicate already fragile diplomatic relations.
