Ranchi (By our correspondent): Principal Secretary to Jharkhand Chief Minister Sunil Kumar Barnwal today asked all the DCs and nodal officers of the state to ensure that kin of the people who have lost their lives in natural disasters should be given compensation
whether the post-mortem has been performed or not and also in cases where the body has not been recovered.
Chairing the weekly review of the complaints registered at the Jansamwad Kendra here he gave the instructions in this regard after a complaint in this regard was brought from Dhanbad. In the complaint, it was pointed out that one Mahadeo Rajwar died of lightning on July 28, 2016 but the compensation was not paid as the post-mortem was not done. Pointing out the decision of the cabinet Mr. Barnwal said in special circumstances in which the post-mortem cannot be performed than on the basis of the report of concerned official compensation can be given and asked the department to get the copy of the decision and pay the compensation to the kin of the deceased.
On another complaint from Dhanbad where it was pointed the compensation was still not paid to the farmers of the Rajganj block whose crops had damaged in 2013-14 due to poor quality of seeds provided to them he asked the nodal officer to recover the guarantee money from the insurance company and provide the same to the agriculture department so that the farmers can be paid their compensation.
In a complaint from Palamu district it was pointed that house of one Birju Kumar Sao along with 15 animals was gutted in fire and as per government provisions he had not received compensation over which the officials informed that money for the damage caused to the house has been paid but those related to animals was not done due to lack of funds.
