New Delhi: Hockey India on Thursday announced an 18-member Indian women's junior team, led by midfielder Khaidem Shileima Chanu, for the AHF Junior Asia Cup 2026, which will be held in Moqi, China, from August 30 to September 13.
The squad also includes two alternate players and heads into the continental tournament after months of intensive training under newly appointed head coach Tim White, who assumed charge of the team earlier this year.
As part of its preparations, the extended squad recently completed an exposure tour of the United Kingdom, where the players gained valuable international match experience. The tour is expected to strengthen India's campaign as they prepare to face Asia's top junior teams.

The Junior Asia Cup will feature the continent's best emerging hockey talent, with the tournament schedule and pool allocations set to be announced closer to the event.
Expressing confidence in his team, coach Tim White praised the players for their dedication and hard work.
"I am proud of the commitment and determination these young players have shown in earning their place in the squad. Over the past few months, they have worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of their game and have grown both as individuals and as a team," he said.
White described the tournament as a crucial opportunity for the team to test itself against Asia's strongest sides and urged the players to treat it as a stepping stone toward bigger ambitions.
"We will approach every match with confidence and discipline. I believe this group has the talent and character to make the country proud," he added.
