India Continue Winning Streak with 3-1 Victory Over Korea in Women's U18 Asia Cup

Kakamigahara — The Indian women's team continued its impressive run in the Women's U18 Asia Cup, defeating Korea 3-1 in their second Pool A match on Sunday.

After opening their campaign with a win over Malaysia, India produced another dominant performance, with goals from Nousheen Naz, Shruti Kumari, and Kiran Ekka securing all three points.

India got off to a strong start and earned a penalty stroke in the opening quarter. Nousheen Naz calmly converted the opportunity in the fourth minute to give her side an early 1-0 lead.

The Indian team maintained control throughout the first half and doubled its advantage in the second quarter. Shruti Kumari scored a well-executed field goal in the 21st minute, helping India take a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break.

Korea attempted a comeback after halftime and pulled one back in the 41st minute through Gyeongmin Ryu. However, India's response was swift. Just two minutes later, Kiran Ekka converted a penalty corner to restore the two-goal cushion and make it 3-1. Ekka's outstanding display also earned her the Player of the Match award.

India remained disciplined in the final quarter, preventing Korea from creating any significant scoring opportunities and comfortably seeing out the match.

During the contest, India earned four penalty corners and one penalty stroke, while Korea managed two penalty corners.

With consecutive victories over Malaysia and Korea, India now sit at the top of the Pool A standings with six points. The team will aim to maintain its unbeaten record when it faces Singapore in its final Pool A match on June 2.
