India’s Anuhith Gosala clinches gold at Global Esports Games

Mumbai — India celebrated a proud moment in esports as Anuhith Gosala secured a gold medal at the Global Esports Games, thrilling a packed arena with a hard-fought victory over Kazakhstan’s Miras in the Clash Royale finals. Gosala edged past his opponent 3-2 in a nail-biting finish to claim the top prize. India also added a bronze medal in DOTA 2, while Türkiye emerged as the gold winner in that category.

India’s journey in Clash Royale saw the team overcome the USA 2-1 in a tense lower bracket final to book a place in the grand finale. Kazakhstan, meanwhile, had already advanced after defeating India 2-0 in the upper bracket. The final clash lived up to expectations, with both sides trading wins before Gosala sealed a dramatic victory in the decider.

In DOTA 2, India’s campaign ended with a bronze after a loss to Mongolia in the lower bracket final. Mongolia went on to face Türkiye in the summit clash, where Türkiye secured the title with a 3-1 win.

Reacting to his win, Gosala described the moment as unforgettable, especially with the home crowd cheering him on. He highlighted the intense preparation and pressure leading up to the event, adding that the victory was a matter of immense pride for the country and hoped it would inspire aspiring esports players.

Paul J. Foster, President and CEO of the Global Esports Federation, praised the athletes and the spirit of the competition, noting that Mumbai’s energy and hospitality set a high standard for future events. He also expressed excitement for the next edition, which will be held in Los Angeles later this year.

The event was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and featured 48 top athletes from 19 countries over four days, marking a successful conclusion to the Mumbai World Finals.
