Mumbai – After a successful debut in India earlier this year, the World Padel League (WPL) is all set to return with its third season, scheduled to be held from August 12 to 16 at the Nesco Center in Mumbai. Backed by the Indian Padel Federation, the league is gearing up for its most ambitious edition yet.
This season, the WPL is expanding from four to six franchises, with two new teams joining the competition, setting the stage for five days of high-octane matches featuring some of the world’s top padel players.
Speaking about the league’s rapid growth, Hemali Sharma, Co-founder of the World Padel League, said, “The rise of padel in India has been phenomenal. Just six months since our last edition, Season 3 marks a significant leap as we scale up the competition and redefine standards for the sport. India is quickly emerging as a promising hub for padel. Our vision is to go beyond just promoting the sport — we want to deliver a vibrant, world-class sporting experience that appeals to both seasoned fans and newcomers.”
Sneha Abraham Sehgal, President of the Indian Padel Federation, echoed the sentiment, saying, “The WPL has played a vital role in boosting padel’s profile in India. With a growing network of players, clubs, and investments in infrastructure, India is on track to become a key destination for the sport in the region. Initiatives like the WPL combine international talent with local engagement, inspiring young athletes to elevate their game to global standards. We are proud to continue supporting the league.”
In the previous season, held at the same venue, SG Pipers Cheetahs emerged victorious after a gripping final against the Vernost Jaguars. With the addition of two new teams and a packed five-day schedule, Season 3 of the WPL promises an exciting blend of elite sport and electrifying entertainment.
