Veteran tennis player Leander Paes was on Tuesday dropped from India's Davis Cup squad for the World Group away tie against Serbia, days after he withdrew from the Asian Games squad at the last moment.
The Davis Cup tie is scheduled to be played from September 14 to 16 at the Kraljevo Sports Venue in Serbia.
The recently crowned Asian Games men's doubles champions Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan have been selected for the doubles competition.
Asian Games bronze medallist Prajnesh Gunneswaran has been included among the three singles players, along with Yuki Bhambri and Ramkumar Ramanathan.
The Indian team will be led by non-playing captain Mahesh Bhupathi, with Zeeshan Ali serving as coach.
The All India Tennis Association (AITA) selection committee, comprising chairman SP Misra, Balram Singh, Nandan Bal, Rohit Rajpal and Zeeshan Ali, finalised the squad through a teleconference on Tuesday.
