Seoul — Two artificial intelligence services from South Korea have secured spots among the world’s 50 most-used generative AI tools, according to a report by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).
The AI assistant **Adot**, developed by SK Telecom, ranked 39th among the most-used generative AI web platforms globally.
On the mobile side, two apps from Naver made the list. The translation app Papago secured the 43rd position, while the AI photo-editing app SNOW came in at 48th.
The rankings are based on monthly usage metrics as of January, with web platforms evaluated by unique visitors and mobile apps by active users.
Despite growing competition, ChatGPT by OpenAI continues to dominate the space. Its web traffic and mobile user base are nearly three times larger than that of Gemini, developed by Google.
ChatGPT’s weekly active users have surged by 500 million over the past year, reaching around 900 million as of late February — a scale that represents more than 10% of the global population.
Regionally, ChatGPT and Gemini remain the preferred AI tools across Western countries such as the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, DeepSeek has seen strong adoption in China and Russia.
In terms of overall AI adoption, Singapore leads globally, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, and South Korea. Interestingly, the United States, despite being a major hub for AI innovation, ranks 20th in adoption.
