New Delhi– (IANS) — Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., the country’s largest automobile manufacturer, has issued a recall for 39,506 units of its Grand Vitara SUV after detecting a fault related to the fuel level indicator and warning light in select vehicles.
The affected units were produced between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. According to the company’s regulatory filing, the fuel gauge in some vehicles may fail to correctly display the fuel level. To address the issue, Maruti Suzuki will inspect and replace the speedometer assembly free of charge.
“Affected vehicle owners will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki’s authorised dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty part at no cost,” the company said.
The recall announcement comes on the back of a robust performance by the automaker. Maruti Suzuki reported a 7% rise in total sales in October, delivering 2,20,894 units, compared to 2,06,434 units in the same month last year.
Domestic sales, including commercial vehicles, reached an all-time high of 1,80,675 units, up from 1,63,130 units in October last year.
Earlier this month, the company crossed a major milestone — 3 crore cumulative vehicle sales in the Indian market.
Among the three crore cars sold, the Maruti Alto leads with over 47 lakh units, followed by the Wagon R with around 34 lakh units, and the Swift, which has crossed 32 lakh units.
Maruti Suzuki also posted a 7.94% increase in consolidated net profit for the September quarter (Q2 FY26), reaching ?3,349 crore. This growth was driven by sustained demand and strong sales volumes. In the same quarter last fiscal (Q2 FY25), the company had reported a net profit of ?3,102.5 crore, as per its stock exchange filing.
