Experts Praise 48MP Fusion Cameras and Next-Gen Modes on iPhone 17 Series

New Delhi – Ahead of Diwali, Indian photography experts shared tips on capturing stunning images of diyas and candles using the iPhone 17 series, ensuring highlights remain crisp without being blown out.

Photographer Bobby Roy highlighted the power of Night Mode in the new iPhones.

“With the 48MP HEIF MAX, you can capture the fine textures of lights and festive décor using the highest quality offered by iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Portrait mode is perfect for soft, cinematic shots and pooja portraits,” he said.

Roy also recommended using Cinematic mode for Diwali clips, such as the lighting of diyas. Thanks to the Photonic Engine across all lenses on the iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max, low-light scenes are handled effortlessly, retaining details and warmth.

“You can slightly boost warmth and vibrancy for that golden Diwali glow. Keep the flash off, lower exposure for diya shots, and focus on reflections. Most importantly, capture the emotions—laughter, rituals, and light—because that’s where the real Diwali magic lies,” he added.

Photographer Porus Vimadalal suggested zooming in to 2x or 4x for portraits.

“This naturally compresses the background and makes faces appear more proportionally realistic. Tap to focus, then slightly reduce exposure. In bright settings, this adds subtle highlights and a cinematic feel. You can fine-tune later while editing,” he explained.

Vimadalal also advised positioning subjects at a 45-degree angle to the light source to create beautiful directional lighting and depth. For night shots, stability is key—use Night Mode and rest your phone on a stable surface or mini tripod to reduce grain and sharpen images.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max boast Apple’s most advanced camera systems yet, with higher-resolution sensors front and back—equivalent to carrying eight pro lenses in your pocket. Three 48MP Fusion cameras deliver sharper and more detailed images.

The new 48MP Telephoto camera features a next-generation tetraprism design with a sensor 56% larger than its predecessor, enhancing sharpness in bright light and capturing greater detail in darker scenes. The 100mm 4x optical zoom offers classic portrait capabilities, while the 200mm 8x optical zoom—the longest ever on iPhone—provides extended reach and creative flexibility.

Additionally, the iPhone 17 Pro series introduces a new Center Stage front camera, enhancing both photo and video experiences. With features like Dolby Vision HDR recording, 4K120 fps, ProRes Log, and ACES support, the iPhone continues to lead the smartphone video capture space.
