Mumbai- Maharashtra Police on Thursday arrested Nida Khan, one of the main accused in the alleged religious conversion and harassment case linked to the Nashik office of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
.
According to officials, Khan was arrested from an apartment in Kaiser Colony in the Naregaon area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after reportedly evading police for several days. She had allegedly been staying there with her parents, brother and aunt.
Police teams had been tracking the location for nearly two days before conducting the operation.
The arrest was carried out jointly by the Nashik Special Investigation Team (SIT), the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police Commissionerate and the Crime Branch. Officials said a special team was formed due to the sensitive nature of the case.
Investigators stated that Khan was located through technical surveillance and intelligence inputs. After completing legal formalities, she was produced before a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for transit remand and later taken to Nashik for further questioning.
The SIT said Khan is wanted in connection with a case registered at Devlali Camp Police Station under Crime Register No. 156/26. Police added that the arrest was made under provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Officials said the investigation is continuing and more individuals could face action if their involvement emerges during interrogation.
According to media reports, Khan had earlier approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail and temporary protection from arrest, claiming she was two months pregnant. However, the court reportedly declined to grant interim relief.
The controversy began after a woman employee at the Nashik office of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
filed a complaint against colleague Danish Sheikh.
The complainant alleged that Sheikh entered into a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage despite already being married.
Police documents further claim that Nida Khan, who is Danish Sheikh’s sister, allegedly made derogatory remarks about the complainant’s religion and pressured her to convert. Investigators also alleged that Khan and another accused, Tausif Akhtar, concealed Sheikh’s marital status from the complainant.
As the investigation widened, several more women reportedly accused senior employees at the Nashik branch of mental and sexual harassment between February 2022 and March 2026. The complainants alleged that their grievances were ignored by the company’s HR department.
So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the case.
Following the controversy, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) issued a statement on X clarifying that Nida Khan was employed as a process associate and neither handled recruitment nor held any leadership role within the company.
The company also stated that it had not received any formal complaints through its internal mechanisms regarding the matter.
