Seven Dead in Stampede at Bihar Temple During Prayers

Nalanda: A tragic stampede at the Mata Sheetla Temple in Nalanda on Tuesday claimed the lives of seven devotees, while one person was left seriously injured, according to police.

The incident took place at the Madhda Sheetla Temple in the Deepnagar police station area during a prayer gathering, when a large number of devotees had assembled at the site.

As soon as authorities were alerted, police teams and local residents rushed to the temple and began rescue and relief operations. Emergency responders are continuing efforts at the site, while the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Officials are currently investigating the exact cause of the stampede.

Reacting to the incident, Samrat Choudhary expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He assured that the state government is providing all necessary support and that proper medical care is being arranged for the injured.

This tragedy adds to a series of similar incidents in crowded religious gatherings across India. In November last year, a stampede during Karthika Ekadashi at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple resulted in nine deaths. Earlier, a stampede during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj also led to multiple casualties.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation in Nalanda as rescue operations and investigations remain underway.
