Indian Worker Killed in Iran Strike on Kuwait Facility; Toll Rises to 8

Kuwait City — An Indian national was killed after an Iranian strike hit a power and water desalination facility in Kuwait early Monday, pushing the death toll of Indian citizens in the ongoing West Asia conflict to at least eight.

According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water, the attack caused significant damage to a service building at the site. In an official statement, the ministry condemned the incident as a “sinful Iranian aggression,” confirming that the victim was an Indian employee working at the facility.

Emergency and technical teams were quickly deployed to manage the aftermath, assess structural damage, and ensure continuity of essential services. Authorities emphasized that safeguarding electricity and water infrastructure remains a top priority, with teams actively monitoring risks to prevent further disruption.

This latest fatality follows a recent incident in the United Arab Emirates, where another Indian national died after being struck by debris from an intercepted missile over Abu Dhabi. The Indian Embassy in UAE had then stated it was coordinating closely with local authorities to support those affected.

Just days earlier, following a high-level inter-ministerial review, the Indian government had confirmed seven deaths and one missing person linked to the escalating conflict. With this incident, the toll has risen further.

The broader conflict, now in its fifth week, began after coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. Since then, Iran has launched retaliatory drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and Gulf nations hosting American military bases.

The continued escalation has led to civilian casualties and damage to critical infrastructure across the region, raising concerns for the safety of expatriate workers, including a large number of Indians employed in West Asia.
