Nari Shakti’s Achievements Inspire Nation, Strengthen Viksit Bharat Resolve: PM Modi

New Delhi— Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended greetings on International Women's Day to women across the country, praising their achievements and saying their contributions are helping shape India’s progress and strengthening the vision of a developed nation.

In a post on X (Twitter), the Prime Minister said women across sectors are driving India’s growth with determination, creativity and enthusiasm.

“On International Women’s Day, I extend my greetings to all our Nari Shakti. Across every field, women are shaping India’s progress with determination, creativity and unmatched zeal. Their achievements inspire our nation and strengthen our collective resolve to build a Viksit Bharat,” PM Modi said.

He also emphasised that women’s empowerment remains central to the government’s policies and programmes.

“Empowerment of women is at the core of our various schemes and initiatives. We remain committed to creating opportunities that enable every woman to realise her full potential and contribute to India’s journey of development,” he added.

The Prime Minister also shared a thread by MyGovIndia, which highlighted the achievements of women across sectors and how “New Naris are powering a New India”.

The post noted that women are playing a growing role in fields ranging from defence and entrepreneurship to science, governance and social development.

Highlighting progress in the defence sector, the government said more women are stepping forward to serve the nation. The statement mentioned girls preparing to join the armed forces through Sainik Schools and the first-ever female batch graduating from the National Defence Academy. It also pointed to a sevenfold rise in women officers and pioneers such as Shivangi Singh, India’s first woman pilot to fly the Dassault Rafale.

Women entrepreneurs are also making strong contributions to India’s startup ecosystem. Initiatives like Startup India and Stand Up India have helped support women-led enterprises.

According to the government, nearly 50 per cent of startups now have women directors, while six out of ten loans under the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana have been extended to women entrepreneurs. In 2025 alone, tech startups co-founded by women raised around $1.1 billion in funding.

The government also highlighted progress in healthcare, particularly maternal health. Nearly 90 per cent of deliveries now take place in medical facilities, while more than 7.16 crore health check-ups have helped detect high-risk pregnancies. Maternity benefits have reached around 8.7 crore mothers, contributing to a significant decline in maternal mortality.

The post concluded by highlighting achievements of women athletes, including India’s maiden victory in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 and the historic triumph in the Blind Women's T20 World Cup 2025.
