The government has successfully returned more than ?1,887 crore in unclaimed financial assets—including old insurance claims and dormant bank deposits—to their rightful owners under the newly launched ‘Your Money, Your Right’ campaign, Department of Financial Services Secretary M. Nagaraju announced on Thursday.
Speaking at a mega outreach camp in Delhi alongside Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Nagaraju emphasised the campaign’s significant progress across the country.
Highlighting the situation in the national capital, Nagaraju revealed that as of August 31, unclaimed assets worth ?3,210.84 crore related to Delhi remain pending under the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund.
He stressed that this huge amount remains inaccessible due to low awareness, outdated account details, or incomplete documentation.
To help citizens reclaim their rightful dues, the mega camp offered guidance on recovering unclaimed financial assets such as:
Bank deposits
Insurance policy payouts
Shares and dividends
Mutual fund proceeds
Nagaraju noted that the government prioritised making the process simple and accessible.
A multilingual campaign video and detailed booklets containing FAQs and standard operating procedures have been circulated widely in various regional languages. These resources, he said, are helping families confidently navigate the claims process.
The Secretary said the response across India has been highly encouraging:
Mega district-level camps have been held in 272 districts.
102 more camps are scheduled to take place tomorrow.
All districts across the country are expected to be covered within the campaign timeline.
MPs, MLAs, and senior state officials are actively participating to ensure maximum public involvement.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the campaign demonstrates the government’s commitment to service delivery through digital facilitation.
She assured full support from the Delhi government to help organise camps and assist citizens in reclaiming their unclaimed funds.
Gupta urged residents to review their bank accounts, fixed deposits, insurance policies, shares, and mutual fund investments and visit the camps to retrieve pending amounts.
Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary stated that the campaign is on track to reach every district between October and December, ensuring that no citizen is deprived of their accumulated financial assets.
