Dilip Kumar hospitalised due to chest infection

Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on Wednesday after developing a chest infection, but his condition was reported to be improving.

A family friend, Faisal Farooqui, who regularly shares health updates about the actor on Twitter, said the 95-year-old star was recovering and requested fans to pray for him.

"Saab has been admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital as he was bit uneasy due to a chest infection. He is recuperating. Requesting your duas and prayers," Farooqui posted.

Dilip Kumar is regarded as one of the most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema and enjoyed a career spanning several decades. His performances in films such as Kohinoor, Mughal-e-Azam, Naya Daur, Ram Aur Shyam and Shakti established him as one of Hindi cinema's most celebrated performers.

Known for his understated and emotionally intense acting style, Kumar was often referred to as the "Tragedy King" for his memorable performances in dramatic roles. His contribution to Indian cinema earned him numerous honours during his career.

The actor's last film appearance was in Qila, released in 1998. He is married to veteran actress Saira Banu.

News of his hospitalisation prompted concern among his fans, who have continued to closely follow updates about the veteran actor's health.
