Congress seeks answers from BJP for farmer suicide and hunger deaths

Ranchi: The Congress party has sought answers from the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the suicides being committed by the farmers in the state and people dying due to hunger under the double engine government of the state. 

Addressing a press conference here acting president of Jharkhand Congress Rajesh Thakur said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech said that farmers in Jharkhand were getting double benefits under PM Kissan Samman Yojana and Mukhyamantri Krishi Aashirwad Yojana but if that was the case than why 22 farmers committed suicide under the tenure of the double engine government.

He said that despite the state government claiming of executing 131 schemes in the state still the people were dying due to hunger in the state. He said that as far as the double benefits of the women are concerned the only achievement is that the women are being raped and later murdered in the state.

Thakur said that people of Khunti were saddened after the Prime Minister failed to make any comments for those against whom cases of sedition have been slapped. He said that despite the entire Union Cabinet campaigning in a small state like Jharkhand the people have already made up their minds that BJP will not come in power.

He said that BJP has now moral right to talk about naxalism as when the state was bifurcated from Bihar LWE was present in only 4 districts which now is in 19 districts only due to BJP which has ruled for 16 years in Jharkhand.
