20 FIRs for violation of model code of conduct registered, 383 complaints on c-vigil app

Ranchi: State’s Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said that post the implementation of the model code of conduct a total of 20 FIRs have been registered so far against its violation.

Addressing a press conference here he said that the 20 FIRs have been registered till yesterday for violation of MCC. He said that on the c-vigil app a total of 383 complaints related to violation of model code of conduct has been received out of which 382 complaints have been disposed off.

He said that the booth app facility which has been started for the first time by the election commission for the convenience of the voters will be available for the electors of 10 assembly areas including those from Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Chaibasa, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Deoghar, Gandey, Bokaro and Jharia.

Mr Choubey said that through the booth app the people will be able to monitor the number of people standing in a queue at the polling booth and can come to cast their votes on the basis of their token number. Apart from that information related to photo voter slip and polling station in detail can be obtained from the app.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that for the first time the facility of postal ballot is being provided for divyang voters and voters who are above 80 years of age and this facility will be available on a pilot basis on seven assembly areas including Rajmahal, Pakur, Jamtara, Deoghar, Godda, Bokaro and Dhanbad.
