CPI to field candidates on 16 seats: Mehta

Ranchi: The Communist Party of India on Tuesday announced that it would be fielding its candidates on 16 seats of the Jharkhand assembly.

State Secretary of the party and former Hazaribagh MP Bhuneshwar Prasad Mehta made an announcement in this regard and said that on November 4 a meeting of the state council of the party had taken place in which after deliberating upon the political situation in the state this decision has been taken.

He said that on July 25th a meeting of the opposition parties was held under the leadership of Hemant Soren however after that no talks have been held on the coalition as the Congress and the JMM are busy talking amongst themselves and it appears that there was no interest among these parties to forge the mahagathbandhan in the state however Mr Mehta once again urged Hemant Soren to hold a meeting with all the opposition parties within a day or two and formalize the coalition.

To a query, he said that a meeting of all the left parties was held in which the respective parties identified their seats according to which CPI will be contesting 16 seats CPM 10 and CPI-ML 15 and MCC 5 seats.

He said that the left parties will make an effort that they do not field candidates against each other. In the previous assembly elections of 2014 the left had won from Dhanwar and Nirsa seats of the state assembly.

The seats from where CPI will be fielding its candidates included Chhatarpur Simariya Bhawnathpur Barkagaon Mandu Bermo Dumri Nala Boriyo Kanke Behragora Ghatshila Sarath Jarmundi Hazaribagh and Barkatha.
