Chief Secretary heaps praise on Monditra, asks her to make it a campaign

Ranchi: Praising the works of ninth grade student Mondrita Chatterjee, who built 10 toilets with Gullak’s money, Chief Secretary Dr DK Tiwari told her, “Well done Mondrita, make it a campaign” .

He also emphasised to connect other students of her school with this noble cause of cleanliness. He said that in addition to the money of your piggy bank, inspire them to contribute in this work also.

The Chief Secretary said that he will write a letter to the Education Department to connect other school students with this work related to cleanliness. He asked Mondrita to meet the Secretary of Drinking Water and Sanitation so that she could also be involved in the department’s plans for this noble cause.

Mondrita along with her parents came to meet the Chief Secretary at the Jharkhand Ministry. During this time, she also presented a booklet dedicated to her works on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, ‘My Little Steps Towards Clean India’. The Chief Secretary, impressed by her actions, also asked for a citation.

14-year-old Mondrita Chatterjee is a student of Hilltop School, Jamshedpur. Since 2014, two public toilets were constructed in 2016 at Kendradih village adjacent to Jamshedpur by depositing money in her Gullak.

After this success, her mother Sweety Chatterjee and father Amitabh Chatterjee, working at Meherbai Cancer Hospital, Jamshedpur, started paying 15 percent of their salary for this noble cause of cleanliness. This thing grew and so far a total of 10 toilets have come into existence.

Mondrita said that she was inspired to build toilets by reading newspapers and listening others. Now she wants to spread the message of cleanliness awareness in various schools and villages by connecting other students with this campaign.

She said that now acquaintances, relatives and unfamiliar people of Kolkata, Assam are also contributing after knowing her work in her piggy bank.
