Training programme for assistant expenditure observers held

Ranchi: Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kripanand Jha said that with the declaration of dates the electoral process will commence in the state and said that the maximum limit for candidates has been set at Rs 28 lakh.

He said that for the monitoring of the electoral expenses the Election Commission of India has made many provisions and all these provisions have to be strictly followed. Addressing a training program organised for the assistant expenditure observer he said that in the election as per the directions of the commission

The Count of the expenditure of the candidates is to be maintained which is important for a clean transparent as peaceful election however due to lack of knowledge on many occasions the expenditure limit is violated therefore it was the responsibility of the assistant expenditure observer that they hold meetings with the political parties and candidates and apprise them regarding the provisions which have been set by the Election Commission of India.

Joint secretary Hiralal Mandal said that after the training programme the assistant expenditure observer would be undertaking the training of the members of the committee who have been included in the election expenditure monitoring committee of the Vidhan sabha areas.

Assistant secretary Devdas Dutta detailed during the training program the legal and illegal expenditure which is done by the candidates during the polls. He also shed light on the cash seized and other prohibited items that are seized during the time of the election and the necessary action to be taken on them and asked them to submit a report on the expenditure being made during the polls for campaigning.
