Inmate of Birsa Munda jail dies during treatment, family cries foul

Ranchi: An imate of the Birsa Munda Central jail located at Hotwar died while he was undergoing treatment at RIMS due to declining health conditions following which the family members created an uproar claiming that the
man had died due to police beating.

The deceased has been identified as Gagan Nayak. He was admitted at RIMS on Tuesday where he was later declared dead by the doctors. The main hailed from Bhatti Tola of Chutia area.

The police have maintained that Nayak was sent to jail on his involvement a looting incident as the court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. On the other hand, the family members have alleged that Gagan was badly beaten up by the jail officials due to which he died.

They claimed that on several area on his body there were wound marks. His wife claimed that all documents related to his bail was complete and he was about to come out fo jail in the next couple of days when suddenly police informed about his death.
