Quality education is most important in the 21st century: Murmu

Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu said that quality education is the most important for the development of any country or state in this 21st century.

Addressing the 33rd convocation ceremony of the Ranchi University here she said that Ranchi University was the oldest university in the state and it has demonstrated its potential by giving innumerable academics, scientists, researchers, administrative officers, police officers, doctors, engineers, managers, lawyers, litterateurs, etc since its inception and not only the state, but it has also made the nation proud.

She said that Jharkhand which is rich in natural and mineral wealth has immense potential for development but without intellectual property, it cannot be used efficiently.

She said that Educational institutions have an important role in this perspective and only through various dimensions of intellectual knowledge and information technology the pace of development can be accelerated. She said that at the national and international level, the vibrant art-culture of the state has a unique identity.

She said that quality education is the most important for the development of any country or state in this 21st century. Without this, the all-round development of society cannot be imagined. In this direction, review meetings with the Vice-Chancellors of various universities and other officials are held with the chancellorship of the Governor.

She said that Officials of various departments of the state government also participate in this meeting and play their important role in student interest. The Governor said that regularization of the session was a major challenge which had been prevalent since before the formation of the state and now online enrollment is being done through the Chancellor Portal.

She said that the gross enrollment ratio has increased in the field of higher education in the state of Jharkhand. Ms Murmu said that to make the maximum number of students study, two shifts of different subjects in different universities/colleges of the state is done and on the other hand the universities are taking an active role in organising blood donation camps, participating in schemes including Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Tree Plantation Program cooperation of the university is also required in the assessment of awareness and development works in rural areas and she had instructed the university that it should adopt the villages and do the works for development there.

Governor said that Ranchi University is conducting various technical, vocational and job oriented courses in various traditional disciplines, in accordance with Tribal and Regional Language Department. Quality education is important in all these courses. 

She said that the level of research should be higher and teachers should make students aware of new progressive ideas. She said that the university should set such an environment of education should be established here so that it is recognised as a model university.
