Products of farmers should be linked with markets: Chief Secretary

Ranchi: Chief Secretary DK Tiwari has asked to link the farmers associated with Johar Scheme with such schemes whose marketing can be done easily.

Chairing a review meeting over the implementation of the Johar Project in the state he said that 1.20 lakh families which are associated with this project in 68 blocks of 17 districts should be linked with such produce whose market is available.

He said before production focus should be providing linkage to the market as the Agriculture products can not be stored for long. In the meeting, it was informed that the solar panel equipped bicycle is proving to be very beneficial for micro irrigation scheme. 

It was said that the farmers were using the technology for community farming and were also looking after the equipments. He said he himself will be visiting the spot to look into the implementation of the scheme.

He said that women are axis of this scheme and directed the officials to include them in task related to soil examination, making wormy compost, collecting soil sample, vaccination of goats etc so that their income can increase.

Those present in the meeting included Development Commissioner Sukhdeo Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Finance KK Khandelwal, Principal Secretary Rural Development Avinash Kumar and Secretary Agriculture Pooja Singhal.
