
Ranchi: The festival of Karma was celebrated across the state with traditional fervor and gaiety. Karma is one of the most popular festivals of the state related to the harvest and a tribute to Karam tree which symbolizes fertility, prosperity and everything which is auspicious.
The festival is held on the occasion of ‘Bhado Ekadasi’. At different Sarna Sthal and Akharas, puja was performed with traditional rituals. In the evening the branch of the Karam tree was put in the middle of the Akhara where the traditional priest or the Pahan performed the rituals. In the wake of the festival, all the Akharas were decked up beautifully. The festival will come to an end on Tuesday with the immersion of Karam tree branch in the river local bodies.
Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu Chief Minister Raghubar Das Leader of Opposition Hemant Soren and other political leaders of the state have extended their greetings to the people on the occasion of the festival.
Meanwhile, JMM supremo Shibu Soren in his message for the festival said the nature festival of Karma has an important place in the lives of the Adivasis and moolvasis and gives them the message to protect their culture, Jal Junglee and Zameen.
Extending his greetings to the people on the occasion of Karma JMM’s acting president Hemant Soren said that on this day the sisters pray for the well being and prosperity of their brothers and moreover the festival also teaches the people to remain connected with their land and forest and also protect and conserve them.
