Chief Secretary reviews preparations for 73rd Independence Day celebrations

Ranchi: Chief Secretary DK Tiwari chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the preparations for the 73rd Independence Day functions to be held in Ranchi and Dumka with the senior officials at the project building here.

Addressing the meeting he said that independence day was a memorable day on which tributes are paid to the freedom fighters and a pledge is taken to maintain the unity and diversity of the country and offer a salute to the tricolor. He said that the day should be celebrated with full enthusiasm in which participation of the common people should also be ensured.

He directed officials to ensure that the VIPs and the common people who participate in the Independence Day functions are provided the best possible facilities and instructed to make arrangements for toilets and drinking water at the venue and also said that roads should be maintained clean to ensure smooth flow of traffic on that day.

Mr Tiwari said that before the Independence Day statues of all the great men should be painted and directed the Divisional Commissioner to work in coordination with the tourism department in order to organise cultural programs on the eve of the Independence Day and also instructed to update the list of the invitees for the Independence Day function so that no important personality is left out.

The chief secretary said that LED screens which have been put up at the venue in Ranchi should be used and directed IPRD Director to make proper arrangements of sound system and LED screen for the program while the police officials were instructed to come up with elaborate security arrangements and also keep a helicopter ready in case of emergency.

During the review, he directed the Divisional Commissioner of Dumka to make arrangements for better decoration at the function to be held at the police line and said that on the eve of the Independence Day cultural programs would be held in the indoor stadium in Dumka and also in Arya Bhatt Auditorium in Ranchi.

He said that keeping in mind the rainy weather better arrangements should be made at the main stage and seating arrangements for the guests. Mr Tiwari also issued instructions related to barricading construction of gallery maintaining cleanliness deployment of fire brigade and doctors at the venue and asked all the officials to make arrangements to take out Prabhat Pheri in the morning of the Independence Day. 

Those present on the occasion also included Additional Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh DGP Kamal Nayan Choubey Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of the various departments and senior police officials.
