On Thursday, Deoghar’s Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania sat down with officials from the Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development departments and made one thing clear: schemes meant for farmers must actually reach them — on time and without favouritism.
Speaking at the Collectorate, he reminded the team that better fish production, healthier livestock and stronger dairy cooperatives are among the most practical ways to lift rural incomes. He asked officers to get more out of existing ponds and water bodies, step up vaccination and breed-improvement work, and breathe fresh life into milk cooperatives that have grown sluggish.
The fisheries review covered everything from the Ved Vyas Awas Yojana and marketing support (pickup vans and kits) to fish-seed production, settlement of government ponds and renovation work. Bhuvania insisted that beneficiary lists must be transparent and that publicity should be wide enough for every eligible family to know about the schemes.
On the animal husbandry side, programmes for piggery, goat rearing, poultry and broiler farming came under discussion. Dairy initiatives — distribution of milch cows, deep boring, vermicompost units, livestock insurance, chaff cutters, and small paneer and khoa plants — were also examined.
The DC directed officials to visit the field regularly and to divide targets fairly among blocks and panchayats according to population. He left no room for doubt: any carelessness in selecting beneficiaries or delivering schemes would invite action against the officers responsible.
Officials present noted that livestock mortality in the district remains low and that insurance claims are being settled for eligible animal owners. Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha and department officers attended the meeting.
