Godda MP Nishikant Dubey on Friday inaugurated the ?293.67-crore Jasidih bypass rail line, a new railway link expected to reduce travel time for passenger trains and improve freight movement in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Deoghar railway station in the presence of Eastern Railway General Manager Geetika Pandey, Asansol Divisional Railway Manager Sangrah Maurya and other railway officials. A special train was operated from Deoghar to Madhupur to mark the occasion.

The new line connects Kumrabad Rohini and Deoghar, allowing trains to bypass the need to reverse direction at Jasidih station. This is expected to simplify train operations, save time and improve the efficiency of railway services passing through the area.

According to railway officials, the bypass is expected to reduce travel time for at least five passenger trains operating daily. It will also ease operational constraints affecting two freight trains, helping facilitate the movement of goods.

Dubey described the project as the fulfilment of a long-standing demand of the region. Eastern Railway General Manager Geetika Pandey said the railway was committed to developing modern infrastructure and strengthening connectivity.

The project is expected to improve operational efficiency across this part of Jharkhand and benefit rail connectivity with neighbouring West Bengal. By reducing the need for trains to change direction at Jasidih, the bypass could also help streamline railway operations and make better use of existing infrastructure.

As part of the inauguration programme, local schools organised competitions on cleanliness and environmental protection. Winners were felicitated during the event.
