Emotional Farewell: Hemant Soren Performs Last Rites of Mother Rupi Soren

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren bid a tearful farewell to his mother Rupi Soren as her last rites were performed at the family cremation ground in Nemra village of Ramgarh district on Thursday.

The 80-year-old was cremated with traditional rituals and due respect at the ancestral village, where a large number of people had gathered to pay their last respects. Hemant Soren performed the final rites and lit his mother's funeral pyre.

The Chief Minister became visibly emotional while performing the last rites and broke down in tears. Family members, supporters and others present at the cremation ground consoled him during the deeply emotional moment.

After the cremation rituals were completed, Soren met people gathered at the site with folded hands before leaving.

Rupi Soren's mortal remains were brought from Ranchi to Nemra, the family's ancestral village, for the final rites. Large numbers of villagers, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha workers and political leaders reached Nemra to pay their respects.

The village had been mourning since news of her death emerged. Rupi Soren died at a Ranchi hospital on October 7 following a prolonged illness. She was 80.

Her death prompted condolences from people across political and social circles in Jharkhand. Following the completion of the formalities in Ranchi, her mortal remains were taken to Nemra, where her son Hemant Soren performed the final rites and bid her a final farewell.

Rupi Soren's funeral brought together family members, villagers and political supporters at Nemra as the Chief Minister carried out the traditional rituals for his mother.
