Jharkhand Cabinet meeting postponed; key decisions on special Assembly session, JPSC appointments deferred

The Jharkhand Cabinet meeting scheduled for Wednesday was postponed due to unavoidable reasons, the Cabinet Secretariat and Vigilance Department said.

The meeting, which was to be chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, was expected to take up several important proposals, including a decision on convening a special session of the state Assembly.

The Cabinet was also likely to consider a proposal to convene a two-day special session to discuss matters related to the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, or MMDR Act.

Another key item on the proposed agenda was the nomination of the chairman and members of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). More than three dozen proposals were reportedly listed for consideration at the meeting.

With the meeting postponed, no decision could be taken on these proposals on Wednesday. The date of the next Cabinet meeting and the agenda to be placed before it are expected to be announced later.

The postponement comes at a time when the state government is preparing to take up several administrative and legislative matters, making the next Cabinet meeting significant for pending decisions.
