Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) on Tuesday launched an e-waste management drive at the Gangotri Convention Centre on its headquarters premises in Ranchi as part of Special Campaign 6.0.

The initiative aims to promote awareness among CCL officers and employees about the proper collection, segregation and scientific disposal of electronic waste, while encouraging more responsible handling of discarded electronic equipment at the workplace.

CCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Nilendu Kumar Singh formally inaugurated the campaign by depositing electronic waste at the designated e-waste collection centre.

Director (Finance) Pawan Kumar Mishra, Director (Technical/Operations) Chandra Shekhar Tiwari and Director (Planning and Projects) Anup Hanjura, along with general managers, heads of departments, officers and employees from the headquarters, were present on the occasion.

The directors, general managers and heads of departments also participated in the initiative by depositing electronic waste at the collection centre, underlining the importance of collective participation in responsible e-waste management.

During the programme, CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh also unveiled an AI avatar of “CCL Ke Tau”, a concept developed by the Corporate Communications and Public Relations (CC&PR) department.

The AI avatar is being used to communicate information about various CCL initiatives and activities in a simple and engaging manner. It also features in videos released across the company's different communication platforms.

The event also focused on raising awareness about the need to properly collect, segregate and scientifically dispose of e-waste. A special selfie stand installed at the venue became an attraction for employees, with several officials and staff members enthusiastically taking photographs.

CCL said promoting environmental initiatives such as e-waste management under Special Campaign 6.0 is an important step towards creating a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable workplace.

The company also emphasised that responsible e-waste disposal can help strengthen collective environmental responsibility and ensure that discarded electronic equipment is handled through appropriate channels rather than being disposed of improperly.
