Eligible citizens who were left out of the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 in Jharkhand will get another opportunity to apply for inclusion, with special digitisation camps scheduled at all polling stations from October 7 to 9.
Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar has directed all District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to expedite the process of adding eligible citizens to the electoral rolls through the special camps.
Kumar urged eligible citizens whose names have not yet been included in the voter list to submit Form 6 and make use of the three-day camps. The camps will also focus on speeding up the digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 received by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The Chief Electoral Officer has also asked election officials to hold meetings with representatives of recognised political parties and share details of the special camps with them. The representatives have been asked to encourage eligible citizens who were left out to submit their applications.
Kumar said a logical discrepancy appearing against a person's name in the electoral roll could have several reasons. These may include incorrect information in the enumeration form, erroneous mapping during an earlier SIR or mistakes in previously recorded details.
He clarified that the objective of the current SIR is not to correct every historical error in isolation, but to make the present electoral roll as accurate as possible and ensure that all eligible Indian citizens are registered.
Eligibility criteria for inclusion
According to the Chief Electoral Officer, applicants seeking inclusion in the electoral roll will have to meet the prescribed eligibility conditions. The person must be an Indian citizen, must have attained the age of 18 years as of October 1, 2026, and must be an ordinary resident of the area covered by the concerned polling station.
The three-day camps are expected to provide an additional opportunity for eligible residents who could not complete the enrolment process earlier to submit their applications and seek assistance from election officials.
Mega help desks on October 10
The Election Commission has also directed that mega help desks be organised at all polling stations across Jharkhand on October 10, along with meetings involving BLOs and Booth Level Agents (BLA-2).
Citizens will be provided information and assistance at these help desks regarding the hearing of notices, claims and objections, inclusion of names in the electoral roll and other related procedures.
Kumar has also directed officials to conduct targeted outreach programmes to reach groups that may face greater difficulties in accessing the electoral registration process, including tribal communities, backward classes, persons with disabilities, elderly voters and transgender persons.
The measures are aimed at ensuring that eligible citizens who were left out during the revision process have access to information, application facilities and assistance before the electoral roll finalisation process moves forward.
