Indian Youth Congress workers staged a protest outside the Election Commission office in Ranchi on Tuesday, with hundreds of party workers gathering at the premises and raising slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Carrying Congress flags, the protesters assembled outside the office and repeatedly raised slogans such as “Remove Gyanesh Kumar” and “Gyanesh Kumar, resign”, expressing their opposition to the Chief Election Commissioner.

The police administration had made elaborate security arrangements outside the Election Commission office in anticipation of the protest. Barricades were placed in front of the main entrance to prevent the protesters from reaching the gate.

The protesters gathered near the barricades and continued their demonstration while some attempted to move past the police cordon. A large number of security personnel were deployed to prevent the situation from escalating and to ensure that the office premises remained secure.

Police personnel remained stationed along the barricades as the protesters continued raising slogans and demanding action against the Chief Election Commissioner.

The heightened security arrangements were also linked to an earlier Congress protest outside the Election Commission office, during which demonstrators had reportedly reached the main gate and attempted to open or breach it.

In view of the previous incident, authorities had strengthened security and put barricading in place before Tuesday’s Youth Congress demonstration. The protest remained focused on the Election Commission and its chief, with party workers continuing their agitation outside the office.
