MLA Mamta Devi Lays Foundation Stone for ?83 Lakh Stadium in Borobing

The foundation stone for a block-level stadium at Rechgarha in Borobing panchayat of Chitarpur block was laid on Friday under a scheme of the Jharkhand government’s Department of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.

The project is estimated to cost around ?83.04 lakh. MLA Mamta Devi, the chief guest, and MP representative Rajiv Jaiswal jointly unveiled the foundation plaque and formally launched the project.

Speaking at the event, Mamta Devi said the Jharkhand government aims to have a stadium in every block to provide local sportspersons with better facilities to train and develop their talent.

She said the proposed stadium would enable players from Chitarpur block to access sports and exercise facilities closer to home instead of travelling to other areas. According to her, the facility would also encourage sporting activities and provide young athletes from rural areas with greater opportunities to develop their skills.

Rajiv Jaiswal said the stadium project had reportedly remained pending for some time due to various reasons and expressed hope that construction would now proceed. He said the facility would benefit both local residents and sportspersons.

Jaiswal also asked the contractor to complete the construction within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards.

The guests were welcomed at the venue by local residents and party workers with bouquets and garlands. The programme was conducted by Laxman Mahto.

Mukhiya Basanti Devi, senior JMM leader Chitragupt Mahto, Yugesh Mahto, Arjun Kumar Verma, Niranjan Kumar, Badhran Ram Dangi, Jagannath Bedia, Deepak Dangi, Anil Chaudhary, Devanti Devi, Pradeep Mahto, Chandradev Mahto, Kumeshwar Mahto, Sudhir Akela, Hiralal Mahto, Jitendra Bedia, Parmanand Kumar, Pintu Kumar, Sunil Kumar and hundreds of local residents were present at the event.
