The weekly Public Grievance Redressal Day was held in Gumla under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dileshwar Mahto, with the objective of ensuring the prompt and effective resolution of problems faced by the public.
Residents from various blocks and remote areas of the district appeared before the Deputy Commissioner and submitted applications seeking action on their grievances. The Deputy Commissioner stressed that public grievances must be handled with sensitivity, transparency and within a clearly defined time frame. He directed officials to ensure that applicants are informed about the action taken on their complaints.
Among the cases brought before the administration was a request for compassionate appointment by a woman from Sarubera Bhandartoli in Palkot block. She stated that her husband had been shot dead by extremists on the night of August 5, 2017. Citing the family's severe financial difficulties following his death, she requested appointment on compassionate grounds as his dependent wife.

Kajal Kumari, a resident of Sisai, sought appropriate financial assistance and other support from the government, citing her weak economic condition. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned department to examine the matter and take necessary action in accordance with eligibility criteria and applicable provisions.
Several other applications were also received during the grievance redressal programme. These included complaints and requests concerning the construction of Pradhan Mantri Awas on non-majurua government land, restrictions on the sale and registration of land, replacement of transformers and installation of electricity wires, restoration of closed ration cards, issues related to ration cards being retained by dealers, provision of Ambedkar and widow housing, correction of workers' master rolls and payment of wages under mango orchard development schemes, as well as action in cases involving fraudulent withdrawals from bank accounts.
The Deputy Commissioner forwarded the applications to the concerned departments and officials and instructed them to investigate each matter and ensure action in a proper and time-bound manner. Officials were also directed to inform the respective applicants about the action taken on their complaints.
