National Sports Day 2026: Ramgarh DC Flags Off Open Cross-Country Race, Runs Alongside Athletes

National Sports Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in Ramgarh on Saturday as the district administration organised the Open Cross-Country Competition 2026 under the aegis of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Jharkhand.

Deputy Commissioner Rituraj formally flagged off the races for the participants. The men's event began from Patel Chowk, while the women's race was flagged off from the Cantonment Football Ground.

The Deputy Commissioner did more than simply inaugurate the event. He joined the runners himself and ran alongside the participants for a part of the race, encouraging the athletes and adding to the enthusiasm surrounding the competition.

Speaking on the occasion, Rituraj said sports play an important role in both physical fitness and mental development. He noted that Ramgarh has considerable sporting talent and said the district administration is committed to providing young athletes with opportunities, facilities and platforms to develop their abilities.

He congratulated all the participants for their enthusiasm and appreciated the performances of the winners. He also described the successful organisation of the cross-country event as an encouraging step towards promoting a stronger sporting culture among the youth of the district.

Senior district officials, sports department officials, police personnel, sports enthusiasts and a large number of local residents were present during the event. Spectators cheered the runners throughout the competition, creating an energetic atmosphere and encouraging the participating athletes.
