An employee of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly is feared to have jumped into Dhurwa Dam in Ranchi, prompting police to launch a search operation. The incident came to light after the employee, Buland Akhtar, reportedly left home on Wednesday and did not return.

Police from Dhurwa police station reached the spot after receiving information from the family. During the initial search around the dam, officers found a vehicle, a pair of slippers and a raincoat near the water body. The recovery of these belongings has raised concerns that Akhtar may have entered the dam, although police have not yet officially confirmed that he is in the water.

According to family members, Akhtar had left home on Wednesday. When he failed to return by late evening, his relatives began looking for him. His vehicle and other belongings were subsequently found near Dhurwa Dam, following which the police were informed.

Police teams searched the area and began examining the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Investigators are also trying to determine whether Akhtar actually jumped into the dam or whether there could be another explanation for his disappearance. The reason behind his suspected action, if confirmed, is also not known at this stage.

### NDRF assistance sought for search operation

The depth of the water at Dhurwa Dam has made the search operation more challenging. Police have therefore sought assistance from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). A search and rescue operation is expected to be carried out in the water after the NDRF team arrives.

Officials said the exact circumstances will become clearer once the search operation and investigation progress. For now, police are examining the belongings found near the dam and gathering information from the family and other sources as they continue efforts to trace the missing Assembly employee.
