Deoghar Airport Parking Fee During 13-Minute Pick-and-Drop Period Questioned by Chamber

A delegation of the Santhal Pargana Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Deoghar, inspected the parking arrangements at Deoghar Airport on Sunday and reviewed the process of collecting parking fees.

The delegation was led by Chamber president Gopal Krishna Sharma and Deoghar Airport Advisory Committee member Alok Mallik. During the visit, the members interacted with the parking contractor and staff to understand how the system is currently being implemented and how passengers are being charged.

The Chamber said vehicles leaving the airport within the stipulated 13-minute pick-and-drop period should not be charged any parking fee. It also called for the parking fee structure and the applicable time limit to be prominently displayed at the parking collection booth so that passengers can easily understand the rules.

The Chamber further advised passengers to check the entry time recorded on their parking slips when entering the airport. According to the organisation, passengers should use the recorded entry time to determine whether any parking charge is applicable when they leave the airport.

The delegation said clear communication at the parking point could help prevent confusion and disputes between passengers and parking staff.

Chamber raises concerns over street vendor policy

The Chamber also took up the issue of street vendors operating along the stretch between Tower Chowk and Azad Chowk.

It alleged that the policy being followed by the municipal corporation and the administration is contradictory. According to the Chamber, vendors are being charged fees by the municipal corporation, while they are also facing action for alleged encroachment.

The Chamber extended moral support to the affected street vendors and called for designated spaces to be identified and clearly demarcated for them. It said vendors who are being charged municipal fees should not be unnecessarily harassed or removed without providing an alternative arrangement.

The Chamber suggested that a permanent solution could be worked out by creating designated vending zones, which would allow vendors to operate in an organised manner while also helping the administration regulate public spaces and pedestrian movement.

Chamber general secretary Niranjan Kumar Singh, joint secretary Pankaj Bhalotia, Vivek Agrawal, Sanjay Malviya, Laxman Patel, Rishi Raj Singh, Vibhuti Thakur, Nilesh Singh and other members were present during the inspection.
