IIIT Ranchi Conducts Cyber Security Awareness Programme for Students Under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

Ranchi: The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Ranchi organised a Cyber Security Awareness Programme at the Government School in Malsiring, one of the villages adopted by the institute under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). The initiative aimed to educate school students about safe and responsible use of the internet and digital technologies.

Addressing the students, Dr. Sandhir Kumar Singh, Coordinator, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, IIIT Ranchi, highlighted the growing importance of cyber security in daily life. He urged students to remain vigilant while using online platforms and cultivate safe digital practices from an early age to protect themselves from cyber threats.

During the interactive session, Dr. Roshan Singh, Dr. Ankita and Dr. Rishikesh Dutt Tiwari, faculty members of IIIT Ranchi, explained various aspects of cyber safety. They educated students on safeguarding personal information, identifying online scams, using social media responsibly, creating strong passwords, and preventing cyber fraud. The session also provided students with an opportunity to ask questions and clarify their concerns regarding online safety.

The programme received an enthusiastic response, with students actively participating in discussions and sharing their experiences of using smartphones, digital devices and the internet.

Appreciating the initiative, Prof. Rajeev Srivastava, Director, IIIT Ranchi, said that creating awareness about cyber security among young students is crucial in today's digitally connected world. He praised the efforts of the UBA team and encouraged them to continue organising community outreach programmes that promote digital literacy, awareness and responsible use of technology.

Through such initiatives, IIIT Ranchi continues to strengthen its engagement with nearby communities under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan by fostering awareness, education and the safe use of digital technologies among rural students.
