Deoghar: Deoghar Mayor Ravi Kumar Raut has strongly condemned a viral social media video in which Deoghar Local Bodies Federation president Sanjay Mandal is allegedly seen encouraging sanitation workers to throw garbage on roads and disrupt cleanliness operations in the city.
Reacting to the video, the Mayor said no one has the right to play with the dignity of Deoghar or undermine the city's cleanliness. He described the alleged remarks as highly irresponsible and unfortunate, adding that they reflect a mindset that is insensitive to the interests of the people of Deoghar. The Mayor said maintaining the cleanliness of Baba Baidyanath's holy city is a collective responsibility. In such a situation, any attempt by a representative of an employees' organisation to openly encourage the spread of garbage or disrupt sanitation work is unacceptable and against public interest. He said sanitation workers are the backbone of the city's cleanliness system and work tirelessly every day to keep Deoghar clean and healthy. Appealing to sanitation workers, he urged them not to be influenced by provocative or negative leadership that could harm both their dignity and the city's well-being.Raut further stated that any effort to obstruct sanitation services, endanger public health or interfere with government work should not be tolerated. He called upon the Municipal Corporation administration and the district administration to investigate the viral video and ensure strict legal action against anyone found responsible.Addressing the citizens of Deoghar, the Mayor said the intentions behind such actions are now before the public. He questioned the justification of allowing personal grudges or political motives to interfere with sanitation work and public services. According to him, encouraging colleagues to engage in unlawful activities only damages the image of the Municipal Corporation and disrupts civic administration.
The Mayor reiterated that Deoghar's identity as a clean, beautiful and spiritually significant city must be protected, and that all stakeholders should work together to uphold that reputation.
