
Deoghar: Amid the indefinite strike by sanitation workers of the Deoghar Municipal Corporation, Mayor Suresh Paswan has issued an official statement clarifying his position and appealing for a constructive resolution through dialogue. He urged both the workers’ union and residents to take into account the corporation’s current financial realities while addressing the employees’ demands.
The Mayor said that the welfare of sanitation workers has remained one of his top priorities since assuming office. As part of these efforts, all pending salary dues of the workers were cleared soon after he took charge, providing relief to employees who had been awaiting payments.
Addressing the demand for pending Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) dues, he clarified that the issue pertains to a period before his tenure as Mayor. However, he stressed that the municipal administration remains committed to finding a solution and is actively working to address the matter.
The Mayor also expressed concern over personal allegations and the use of offensive language directed at him in recent days. He said that while dissent and protest are part of a democratic system, the dignity of public office and social sensitivities should not be compromised in the process.Appealing to sanitation workers to consider the corporation’s financial position, he said the administration respects their concerns and remains open to discussions. He emphasized that the doors of the municipal administration are always open for dialogue aimed at resolving legitimate grievances.The Mayor reiterated that every genuine issue would be considered through mutual understanding and negotiations, adding that efforts would continue to find a peaceful and lasting solution while ensuring that the city’s sanitation services remain unaffected.
