High-Tech Cheating Racket Busted During SSC GD Exam in Ranchi, Six Arrested

Ranchi: A major cheating racket linked to the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) General Duty online examination has been uncovered in Ranchi, where answers were allegedly being filled automatically through remote access technology, police officials said on Sunday.

The Ranchi Police arrested six people after conducting a raid at the Futuristic Online Examination Centre near Piska More in the Pandara police outpost area.

The raid was carried out after Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan received specific information about large-scale irregularities during Saturday’s SSC GD examination.

Following his instructions, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of City SP Paras Rana.

According to police officials, invigilators became suspicious during the first shift of the examination after noticing unusual activity on some computer systems. They reportedly observed that while candidates continued looking at their screens, answers to the questions were being entered automatically without manual input, raising concerns of technical tampering and remote interference.

The matter was immediately reported to the police and examination authorities, after which a formal complaint was lodged and an investigation launched.

Police teams reached the examination centre and carried out a detailed inspection of the computer systems, network connections and electronic equipment installed at the facility.

During the operation, six individuals — including candidates and persons linked to the technical management and operation of the examination centre — were detained and later arrested for their alleged involvement in the malpractice.

Officials said several computers and electronic devices have been seized from the centre and will be sent for forensic examination to determine the exact technology and methods used in the suspected scam.

Police are also investigating whether the racket has connections with other examination centres or operates across multiple states.

Authorities said the full network behind the alleged fraud would be uncovered as the investigation progresses. The police are expected to share more details about the case during a press conference scheduled later in the day.
