Two drug traffickers nabbed with 15 Kg Ganja at Tatanagar station

Jamshedpur: In a major breakthrough against narcotics smuggling, a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) successfully apprehended two alleged drug traffickers and seized 15 Kgs of ganja during a late-night operation on April 24 in the Tatanagar railway station area.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior security officials from the Chakradharpur Division and Jamshedpur railway police. Acting on suspicion, the team detained two individuals and, on thorough search, recovered a substantial quantity of contraband estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Upendra Kumar (38) and Vinod Sao (55), both residents of Rajouli in Bihar’s Nawada district. Preliminary interrogation suggests their possible links to an organized drug trafficking network, though further investigation is underway to confirm these connections. The action was carried out under “Operation Narcos,” an ongoing  drive by the RPF aimed at curbing the transportation of narcotics through railway routes.

Following their arrest, both accused have been handed over to the Tatanagar railway police station for further legal proceedings.Officials reiterated their commitment to intensify such operations in the future to ensure a safer and crime-free railway network.
