Mother, Paramour Arrested for Teen Son’s Murder in Sahibganj

Sahibganj: Authorities have arrested a woman and her alleged partner in connection with the killing of her 15-year-old son in Jharkhand’s Sahibganj district, police said.

The arrested individuals, Meenu Devi and Rohit Sah, were produced in court and subsequently sent to judicial custody.

The case emerged after police began investigating the mysterious death of Ayush, a local teenager. During the probe, investigators discovered that Meenu Devi was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with Rohit Sah, who is related to her as a nephew.

According to police findings, the incident occurred on February 7 when Hemant Sah, Meenu’s husband, was not at home. Rohit reportedly visited the residence during this time. Ayush allegedly saw them together in a compromising situation and started shouting, threatening to expose them. To silence him, the pair allegedly strangled the boy using a rope.

The accused then attempted to conceal the crime by dumping the body near a pond behind the house to mislead others into believing it was an accidental death.

Later, Meenu Devi informed her husband that Ayush had gone out and did not return. Concerned relatives and villagers began searching for him and eventually found him unconscious near the pond.

The teenager was taken to Barharwa Community Health Centre and later shifted to Sonajori Hospital in Pakur, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police stepped in after receiving information about suspicious circumstances. Following a post-mortem and detailed investigation, a murder case was filed based on the father’s complaint. The truth surfaced after police detected contradictions in the accused woman’s statements and interrogated both suspects.
