Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren to Be Chief Guest at Women’s Hockey India League Final

Ranchi: Hockey India on Wednesday confirmed that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will grace the Women’s Hockey India League final as the Chief Guest. The title match will be held on January 10 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi.

Jharkhand’s Minister for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Sudivya Kumar, and International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Dato Tayyab Ikram will attend the event as Guests of Honour, while Jharkhand MLA Kalpana Soren will be present as the Distinguished Guest.

The final will be contested between SG Pipers and Shrachi Bengal Tigers, two teams that have shown impressive consistency in both offence and defence throughout the season, setting the stage for a high-quality contest for the coveted trophy.

The presence of senior political leaders and international hockey officials at the final highlights the growing prominence of the Hero Hockey India League and its significant contribution to the advancement of women’s hockey in India.

Hockey India President and Hockey India League Governing Committee Chairperson Dilip Tirkey said Hockey India was proud to welcome the distinguished guests, adding that their participation reflects continued government support for the sport and the league’s increasing international recognition.

Hockey India Secretary General and HIL Governing Committee member Bhola Nath Singh described the Women’s Hero Hockey India League as a landmark initiative that has created a strong platform for elite and emerging women players, noting that the attendance of such dignitaries is a testament to the league’s success and its role in strengthening the future of women’s hockey in the country.
