Ramgarh: Uday Shankar Singh, Chairman of the Jharkhand Assembly’s Environment and Pollution Committee, visited Ramgarh on Thursday along with other committee members and held a review meeting with district officials in the evening. The meeting, which continued until around 8:30 pm, focused on complaints and issues related to pollution caused by local industries.
In a conversation with Reporter Post Bureau Chief Umesh Sinha, Singh said the committee would thoroughly examine complaints submitted by residents of the Bihar Foundry area. He stated that ensuring basic facilities and a safe environment for the public is the responsibility of the government. “I have directed officials to investigate every point mentioned in the memorandum submitted by the villagers,” he said, adding that justice would be ensured for those affected by industrial pollution.
Singh also acknowledged complaints related to other factories operating in the district and instructed officials to conduct inspections and submit detailed reports to the assembly committee. Emphasising compliance, he said industries must function strictly within prescribed pollution control norms. Residents living near the Bihar Foundry handed over a memorandum to the chairman, seeking action against pollution, to which Singh assured that all necessary steps would be taken in accordance with environmental standards.
