Ranchi Municipal Corporation Steps Up Chhath Preparations After Pond Inspections

Ranchi: With the Chhath Mahaparv approaching, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has intensified its preparations to ensure cleanliness, safety, and convenience for devotees at major ponds and ghats across the city.

RMC Administrator Sushant Gaurav personally inspected several water bodies and reviewed ongoing work related to cleaning, lighting, security, and infrastructure. He instructed officials to expedite all pending tasks so that devotees find clean and safe surroundings during the four-day festival.

At Button Talab, Gaurav expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness level but ordered the continuation of cleaning drives, painting of steps, installation of lights, barricading around the pond, and placement of bollards along approach roads. He also directed action against those defacing the steps and instructed that entry routes be kept clean and water-sprayed regularly.

At Shalimar Talab in Dhurwa, officials were told to install barricades and red ribbons based on depth, while devotees were advised to deposit offerings only in designated immersion pits.

Inspecting Jagannathpur Talab, Gaurav ordered an intensified cleaning campaign with additional staff, alum and bleaching treatment, aesthetic improvements, and installation of high-mast lights. He also asked that weeds be removed regularly and pathways leveled with paver blocks to ensure smooth access.

At Dhurwa Dam, cleanliness was found satisfactory, but Gaurav instructed the completion of changing rooms and other amenities, alongside barricading and regular path cleaning.

Gaurav emphasized that the objective is to make every ghat clean, safe, and well-lit for the festival. He was accompanied during the inspections by Deputy Administrator Gautam Prasad Sahu, assistant administrators, sanitation and engineering officers, and RMC staff.
